SAKATAT European Tour July 2012 Diary – Introduction

SAKATAT is a three-piece old school grindcore band from Turkey. Since 2005, we’ve released seven split 7″s and went on tours in different parts of Europe for numerous times.

In June 2012, we would finally release our first album (which would cause some debate due to its unusual total running-time) and it seemed like the perfect time for another tour. After some months of getting the whole thing planned, booked and making it legally possible (which is sometimes the hardest part), we ended up with a slightly longer and somehow more promising schedule than those we had before.

All the tours we had before were followed by hardcore working or studying, so we barely ever had the chance to share our experiences with friends who had asked nor did we have the chance to thank all those who made those times possible in a way they deserved. This tour, however, felt like it somehow deserved a better treatment as far as reporting goes.

So, in the following series of blog posts, I will try to sum up the most notable moments and highlights of the tour mainly with photos and occasional notes as far as my camera and memory allow. New band discoveries, vinyl finds and good/bad dishes are likely to be big part of it all.

Kayar: Drummer and extensive vinyl shopping executive

Niklas: Driver and head of the one-man party planning commitee
Semih: Vocalist 10 minutes a day, shitworker for the remaining 23 hours and 50 minutes
Renault Espace: Half piece of shit half rad car with 5 seats and a lot of space but no insurance
plus some occasional free-rider
